Building VURV Creative
Strategy  •  Identity  •  Website  •  Systems  •  Copywriting
Creating a brand studio that demonstrates the same strategic thinking it delivers to clients.
The Challenge
Launching a creative studio sounds straightforward...design a logo, build a website, write some copy.
But that’s exactly the trap.
As designers, we’re often our own most difficult clients. The challenge wasn’t creating another beautiful portfolio—It was creating a brand that accurately represented how I think, how I work, and the kind of clients I want to attract.
Every decision needed to answer one question:
If someone hired VURV tomorrow, would this brand accurately represent the experience of working together?
The Opportunity
I wasn’t interested in building another design portfolio.
I wanted to build a studio. That meant thinking beyond visual identity. The brand needed a clear point of view: A focused audience, a recognizable voice, scalable systems, a flexible website, and a foundation capable of growing alongside the business.
My Role
This project was entirely self-directed. Responsibilities included:
- Brand Strategy
- Positioning
- Naming
- Visual Identity
- Brand Voice
- Website UX
- Copywriting
- SEO
- WordPress Development
- Bricks Builder
- CSS
- Art Direction
- AI-assisted Research
- Content Strategy
My Philosophy
Most branding focuses on how businesses look. I care more about how they operate.
The strongest brands aren’t simply memorable—they’re aligned.
When positioning, messaging, visual identity, website, and customer experience all reinforce one another, momentum becomes much easier to build.
Finding the Position
One of the biggest strategic decisions wasn’t visual.

It was deciding who VURV wasn’t for.
Rather than positioning the studio as a general creative agency, I intentionally narrowed my audience toward founder-led businesses, specialist companies, and organizations that had already proven their business—but whose brand had fallen behind.
This positioning influenced every decision that followed: messaging, services, pricing photography, website architecture, everything.
Building the Identity
The visual identity balances editorial simplicity with kinetic energy:

- Large typography.
- Confident layouts.
- Generous whitespace.
- Bold gradients.
- Cosmic metaphors.
- Palm trees.
- Florida warmth.
Every element exists to reinforce the same personality:

- Strategic
- Curious
- Optimistic
- Confident
- Human
Writing the Website
The website became much more than a portfolio—it became the primary expression of the brand.
Every page was written from scratch.
Rather than focusing on services alone, the copy was structured around helping prospective clients understand business problems before presenting design solutions.
Navigation, content hierarchy, and page structure were intentionally designed to reward curiosity while remaining highly scannable.
Designing for Scale
Although VURV is currently a solo studio, I intentionally designed the brand as a scalable system.
That included:
- Design system
- Global typography
- Color tokens
- Reusable components
- Utility classes
- Copywriting framework
- Pricing framework
- Brand documentation
- Website component library
Building these systems early creates consistency today while making future growth significantly easier.
AI as a Workflow Partner
AI played an important role throughout this project—not as a replacement for design, but as a strategic tool.

I used large language models, then transitioned to local small models to accelerate research, explore positioning, stress-test messaging, organize information, all while maintaining creative direction myself.
Results
The project continues to evolve alongside the business, but it has already become far more than a marketing website.

It now serves as:
- Portfolio
- Sales tool
- Brand system
- Service framework
- Content platform
- Creative laboratory
- Foundation for future client work
Most importantly, it demonstrates exactly how I believe branding should work: strategically, intentionally, and as a connected system rather than a collection of deliverables.
Reflection
Building VURV changed how I think about design.

Earlier in my career, I measured success by the quality of individual projects. Today, I care much more about the systems behind them.
Design isn’t just the artifact. It’s the infrastructure that helps businesses communicate consistently, grow intentionally, and create momentum over time.
That’s ultimately what VURV Creative represents.
